Did You Know?
What is Continuing Education?
Continuing Education is generally obtained after formal education. CE is mainly for professions that require continual license renewal or updates in that particular profession.
Most of the time, this does not mean a degree program, but more an individual or set of courses either part time, online, webinar or live classes. For Example:
A teacher may need 40 hours to maintain their certification OR a massage therapist may need 24 hours to renew their license.
What are the different names?
We use the general term Continuing Education. There are many different names, synonyms and acronyms for the continuing education depending on the field.
Often times in the Medical Profession they are considered CMEs or Continuing Medical Education. In the Teaching Profession they are considered Professional Development or when referencing a class, In-Service Hours.
As you can see there are many different names. So it really depends on your profession or what you are looking for.
